Oh, lordy, my country. I am no longer invigorated by politics. I am saddened, sickened, and overwhelmed. We always bring the kids to the polls to vote, and I follow along as much as I can these days, but oy vey, I am mostly just tired.

- I'm a suburban woman on a quest for the simple life on our 10 acres in the Fingerlakes region of New York. I am living the dream and staying home to raise my two kids while my wife and I try to renovate our 150 year old farmhouse and keep the grapevines from consuming the house. We are a free-range family, and I spend my days with the kids crafting, gardening, canning fruit, and keeping the peace. Some days I'm lucky enough to fit in a little knitting.

I do not understand how anyone could not be excited about politics this year! It is the first time in history that we have a chance to vote for a person of color. It is also the first time a woman has be considered for President and vice-president. I am excited for that reason alone. However, I am even more excited because of the impact it will have on our country and on women's rights. The next president will appoint federal judges that will cause us to have our rights changed or not. I am a strong pro-choice, pro-information, pro-education etc. We cannot stand to have four more years of a Bush-like presidency. Please, Please consider voting for Obama for this reason alone. Other leaders of countries are also hopeful that we have a more reasonable president!
